I was considering the Standard but knew I wanted the TourPak. When I added up the prices of all the parts of the TourPak I ended up going with the Classic. Best decision I ever made. In addition to the TourPak, I love the radio. I listen to it all the time.

Regarding the '08s, the only reason I'd go with one is for the ABS. All the six gallon tank would do for me is that I'd have an extra gallon in the tank when I stopped to pee.

Plus on the 08 you have to wait to get the goodies since MOCO never planned out how to get both on the market at the same time. I have seen a couple of other posts about what you can and can not do to a 08 because of where somethings are located. Do a search and see what the other folks are saying about the 08. HAGO! Remi

I love My Classic!I had no need for the lower fairings or the CB radio and I don't like paying for stuff I don't need (or want) so the Classic was just right for Me.I also wanted to run the bike trunkless most of the time and didn't want to mess with all the wires, antennas and rear speakers on and Ultra when removing it.If You will run it with the trunk and You want the lowers, then I would buy the Ultra and have what You want without having to add the lowers plus You'll have rear speakers,CB radio and cruise.6 gallon tank?I could take or leave it.The Standard never even entered My mind when I was looking to buy a Glide.

The EG is the best bang for the buck hands down if long rides solo or 2 up is what you like.
A stock 07 EG with a biketronics radio and J&M or Hogtunes speakers, rjsoriginals heat shields, and an EBAY H-D tourpac will go anywhere an 07 ultra or 08 ultra with lots of $ left over for gas and vacations.

I personally think that a EG Standard is the best route to go. I can add on whatever I need like a tour pack, lowers,cb & radio if needed and pull it all off for sporting around town. Anyway you look at it, a tour bike should be and would be a wise move for a guy who does that kind of mileage.
Again, just my 2cents.

I have the EG Classic and by the time you buy the EG Standard and add all the touring goodies (radio, tour-pack) to it, you could have had the Classic (with the black/Chrome motor) which will look alot better than the silver aluminum motor, (JMO). Good luck with your purchase.

The Standard is a fine touring bike in its own right, BUT if you know that you are going to add a tour pac, radio, lowers and such, you will be money ahead to just get an EG Classic or an Ultra.

And right now is the time to get a brand new '07 because all the people that have to have the latest and greatest are waiting for '08's. My dealer has three Ultras on the floor right now and none of them are 22,000.

go with the standard and add the rest. found the lowers on ebay for $90 and painted them to matchand the trunk is a MUTAZU for under $200 color matched to the bike. Don't need the stereo as of yet.
