Put it on a few years ago and just recently I removed it due to my rear speaker pods falling apart. It took some time to remove due to the rear speakers, 12v cigarette type charging adapter, and lights which meant the seat came off to unplug them. Without wires to mess with, it would only take about 30 seconds to remove and reinstall.
Im curious about this lock. I think that could be a great idea.
Bought it at Dealership installs right on the detachable TP Rack. When you mount to four point dock it locks into place and needs a key in order to unlatch.
Love mine, its night and day the way it handles. It tends to be off more than on except for overnight trips. The little lady has her own so that's not a factor. The one thing you have to be careful with is one man installation. It takes a little more time in that it easy to scratch the fender so I put duct tape down or a towel. Two people makes it a lot easier. In general to take it off alone. It's 5 to 10 min with a seat change.
....... be nice to do the street glide thing on occasion but I usually stash everything in the tour pak.
....... a tour pac really is convenient
... i thought i'd take it off all the time on the '05, but it stays on most all the time
....... & i like the extra lighting on the rear that the TP provides

Yes that too. I was on my Intruder 1500LC going west on the main road in front of my workplace. Had the right turn signal on but its low & just one flashing light. The speed limit is 45 but people easily do 55 thru there & it's a not a wide turn in & it's up a fairly steep incline so you really hafta slow down. I assumed the car behind me was going to slow but I saw that it wasnt. All the sudden I heard screeching of brakes & saw the idiot go sliding past me and the driveway. Probably missed me by inches. Come to think of it that never happened while riding the Harley with the tour pak...
In 5 yrs I have removed the tour-pak 2 times. I hate not having it, so for me the detachable was a waste of money.
I'm leaning more towards that. I think I'd rather spend the money on a coolflow fan and/or oil cooler. Unnerving sitting idling in traffic here in the summers at 107°. I'm sure the love jugs work well just so ugly. The coolflow seems pretty hidden.
