Dual Battery Setup
With the smaller size of Li-ion batteries, is anyone aware of someone putting together a dual battery setup on a touring bike? Configured similar to dual battery setup like in a truck or jeep.
- The smaller case is key, no bike manufacture specific batteries where the case is designed to fit their battery box.
- Bike is able to charge both batteries at same time or... it charges Battery1 then automatically charges Battery2
- Bike will draw power from one battery, not both
- Manual switchover to redundant battery
Basically I have a need to run something off the bike at night when not at home and was kicking around the idea of using a second battery on the bike that gets automatically recharged every time I ride. This setup would save me the hassle of plugging a USB battery bank to to the bikes power port to recharge every morning, no forgetting to recharge the USB power bank, would also re-charge faster than a power bank plugged into the power port in the tour pack, also saves space on bike as the battery will be in the bike, instead of in a saddlebag / tourpack.
