Thats at least $3.5K too much.

Remember that low mileage and options do not add value. The dealer certainly didn’t pay more for them. Y

If it’s well maintained it should be a good bike but not for 9 grand. I think hattitude answered all your questions.

I have a 2006 and love it!! sounds like the price is a bit steep!! as mentioned above Hattitude gave some valuable advice but in the past I have been known to pay up for something I like if it is exactly what I have been looking for and in above normal condition and extremely well taken care of !!! if you plan on riding it for a while and trading to something different you probably wont do so well but if you are like me and keep things for ever I would pull the trigger, but I'll bet with a little haggling you can get that price down!! Good Luck!!

I have an 05 and it's been a good bike, nothing major in the way of problems with it. I did upgrade the cam tensioners to hydraulic, which includes a larger oil pump. I did have them replace the clutch cable and the primary seals that were both leaking but that is the only major work that I have had to do to it other than the normal wear out items like brakes and rotors.

$9K is way too much for an '05 TC88 five speed even with such low mileage, you can have a newer bike with a TC96 and six speed for the same money in the same shape.

I dunno about that, depends on what you buy and for how much.
A barn find of a vintage bike bought at the right price could be very lucrative.
Don't spoil the dream,I just know someday that '47 Knuck for $2500 is going to come along at an estate sale I stop for on a whim and I'll have the cash in hand.

Offer them $5000 for it and walk away if they don’t negotiate. No way would I pay more than $6000 for it.

I cant emphasize enough about the cam tensioner issues. Its a known, massive fault and one that will need to be fixed. I wouldnt touch that bike unless the dealership can prove the the tensioner has been replaced, regardless of price.

Ive got an 06 EG and love my bike, but that tensioner issue kept me awake at night until I fixed it, just for peace of mind.

OP......$9000 sounds way too high.....I agree $6k would be about max.... and I would have the dealer do the tensioner conversion if it wasn't done.( and I'm sure it hasn't)...then ride and enjoy!!........and welcome to the forum( just need some thick skin sometimes)

I just recently bought a 2007 Road King Classic with 7k miles for under $5k from an individual. Still had original tires with 2006 date stamps. He had told me he replaced them recently which of course was a lie. Also said he put a brand new Harley battery in it which also was a lie. Brake fluid was an indescribable color. I changes all fluids, put on new tires and brake pads, knocked off the dirt dobber nests and it runs like a champ. $9k for 2005 seems way high.

Go to the dealership on the last day of February and offer $6800 cash.
