Been a struggle trying to find something to work here. My 07 road king with 14+ stretched bags been trying to find side covers . But it's nearly impossible to find that combo with dual headers. Recently purchased nasty hogs side covers because it's the same company as my bags. No good on the left side .
anyone ever modify a stretched side cover to make it work ? I'm at a loss here .first pic is my stock side cover. Second pic is what I bought .
I have 2008 ULTRA I purchased a set 2014+ bags and purchased 2008 stretched side covers do to the fact of having true duel exhaust and the 2014 side covers will not fit around the exhaust I noticed that the side covers have to be heavily modified because of the spacing between the bags and side cover does anyone have any tips before I start this project???
Hey looking good so far. I was down that road once before and yes it is a lot of work. I used fiberglass resin to build up the sides to close the gap. It looked great in the end but I did end up getting rear ended a year later and all that work went out the window. Anyways I ended up getting rid of the true dual and doing 2-1 and buying bad dads side covers. So your project is definitely possible just very time consuming.
I know it's a year lateron this thread, but hoping for additional advise. How much clearance should you have between stretched side covers and exhaust heat shields or mufflers? Don't want to get to close and ruin a paint job.
