i recently bought a twin pack of the hd branded sena 30k mesh system for the wife and i. for bike to bike comms, it is fantastic. for bluetooth connectivity to the bike, well, still working on that one. not the sena fault, just trying to work around not getting the whim. probably will just suck it up and get them. 2 bikes + 2 whims = $$$

the really interesting part is i bought mine from one of the discounters. the twin pack of the 30k was actually less than the twin pack of the 20s. and since there is 3 of you, it might be advantageous to buy 2 twin packs, just in case you pick up someone else you want to add to the group.

I have a CB but seriously considering aSena in my new Shoei Neotec II...My co members in the riding club mostly use CB so it was easy plus it’s been on the bike for 10 years now. I did get a Cardo rider for a solo trip to Canada several years ago and it was really nice but I hear the SENA is better

Just for consideration, using intercom for group rides can be less than pleasant.

We recently attended a small rally and I was able to pair our HD Sena's with a few other riders. The communication worked well and was nice a clear. However, when in the intercom mode, you cannot listen to any tunes and, like in my case, because one rider like to talk a lot, it made things just a little tiresome.

Locally our ride groups use CB for safety communications, most often between the ride captain and tail sweep, and can be use to chat a little if desired. Since the CB will only override the radio when there is a conversation, durring most of the ride you can listen to tunes and still be aware of lane changes, upcoming turns, etc.

FWIW, when I used a SENA, I also was listening to my tunes off my bikes speakers.

For me, for some reason I did not care for the speaker system inside the helmet. I even tried the FonePlugs I think it is called way you insert into your ear canal speakers. It was not comfortable. And it allowed too much road noise into my eardrums. Surprisingly.

Eventually I totally stopped using the SENA. But that is just me. I understand most people who use the SENA really like it.

I guess like most things, there is always a trade-off. Personal preferences, etc...

We use the intercoms, and the PTT button via the C.B. radio in our Ultra. It interfaces with the intercom and you can listen to music while you are riding and when you speak the music stops until you are done speaking and then the music resumes. We have J&M headsets in our Arai helmets, they work great. No pairing of headsets, no out of distance issues..Push the PTT button and speak to your group riders.. Been using a C.B. intercom system with J&M headsets since the 80's.
