It hurts nothing in the short term. Probably take years to hurt and you would correct it when it started that harsh first gear engagement.
I thought they did, but since new one come with the vent, it’s not really an issue anymore either way. And yes I’ve yet to read about any permanent damage from the issue

When I went through this issue I asked my dealer to order the kit and I would even pay them to install it since it would have been a cheaper option than going the warranty route. They claimed they could not get the kit unless they proved to Harley Canada the problem exists. Once they proved it to Harley Canada by recording the transfer by their procedures only then would a kit be sent out. This is how it was explained to me and to my understanding was the original procedure before June. I still can not confirm if the kit is available for sale in Canada, it probably is but I can not confirm. US dealers will not send parts to Canada by mail due to trade agreements. Whether the kit was available for sale or not in Canada I was going to ride down south to a US dealer if I had to. I would have contacted another dealer but since it is a $35,000+ bike on warranty I made the call to Harley Canada who dealt with the issue.

it was like that originally, but quickly became available as a kit, you can now buy just the tube for like 5 dollars

What does this have to do with anything, do you even have an M8?

Yeah, if you believe the bull$hit posted on a page that is a sales tool for the guy who makes the fat pushrods....

Something smells fishy here, sounds like you are shilling/trolling for the guy.

LOL, struck a nerve I guess? Deep breaths man, it's all good. I do have a M8...2018 RGS, in case you cant read my signature.
I have absolutely nothing to do with the guy, just offering another option for the PO.
I didn't realize the vent was so simple, I'll probably do that and the rod in my garage since they're both quick and cheap...Then I won't have to worry about which one works better.
Carry on....

once you do the vent the rod becomes redundant, I’m no expert but Harley designed that oem rod with their tolerances for a reason, putting something in that oversized may even cause a problem down the line but as I said I’m no expert. What I do know is very simple science and when you debate this and try to explain simple logic with Greg Williams he turns off comments - if you check the FB posts on some pages I’m sure to have popped up.

The vent cured my transfer.

Doc Harley does a great job explaining this situation.

The rod manufacturer has vested capital in his own products.
I've yet to see a poster on this forum say the vent doesn't work.
I'd take the advice and info of this forum 100x over before a Facebook group....which also happens to be where the fat rod maker garnered most of his sales to begin with.
I feel you're wasting time and money on the fat rod.
But.. It's certainly your time and money to begin with.
Surely, I've spent a TON more money on a lot dumber stuff...
