I haven't been on the touring side for a while, got a new Heritage Classic. So today I'm going to the dealer to check on a part and out front what do I see. A 2011 FLHTK, MINE for sale. I traded it in 14 with 45K, now it's got 75K but it's as beautiful as the day I bought it. Cherry & Merlot. Still has the adds I did, lowered, chrome front, Progressive 940, V&H power duals, upgraded hinges, and several other things. I put on the Harley GPS fairing mount and had to cut away part of the left pocket of the windshield bag and it's still that way. Boy am I tempted. Tomorrow morning taking in the Heritage for the 1K service, a no charge service so maybe I'll "test ride" it.
I know I find myself with only one right now. I had that 11 and a 13 Fatboy together in the garage for a few years. Fatboy was traded for the current Heritage. The 11 was traded for a 15 FLHTKL. I'll have to find out if or what has been done or upgraded. Compensator come to mind right off the bat. It would be too easy to have an emotional attraction. I did a lot of good trips and we saw the sights from the deserts of AZ, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, fall colors in WV and NC, New Hampshire backwoods, and Nova Scotia. That and some places in between.
Yield not to temptation. Got the Heritage service done today and decided not to ride the 11 FLHTK. Not mine anymore and who knows what's been done the last 5 1/2 year and 30K miles. Not even going to see what they would take. I have the FLHCS to play with now and that's good.
I did the multi bike thing for the last five years. Sold 3 right before Christmas and bought an FLHT. One or two of them sat unridden most of the time.
$12,995 which is pretty ridiculous. As far as condition it is great on the surface. I didn't bother to ask what was done to it since I know what I did and it's all still there. New stuff I could see was derby covers etc were replaced with "born to ride" stuff which is rather tasteful. But it's got 75,000 miles in a sea of bikes with 10,000 or less. Granted I did some costly adds but everyone knows that adds and mods have little effect on pricing. It's a "purty" bike but with 2 generations of significant engine changes, Rushmore and M8. Likely someone can get it and have years of good riding but not at $13K.
