I have one on my 2003, it doesn't do much other than help me keep the bike upright in tight spaces, otherwise I use a scissors jack or two ... and two jacks are still cheaper than a center stand
Maybe a wheel chock might work better for what you're wanting to do? It keeps the bike upright and you can get a catch pan completely under the bike for the oil. Also works pretty good for cleaning the bike and simple maintenance.
If you're going that route, get a wheel chock that you can easily roll in and roll out like a Pingle or Wheeldock. I think a fully loaded EG is a bit heavy for those cradle style chocks.

Reason: typo
I had the Harley center stand on my last Ultra Limited. Works well. I bought it because I was used to having one on my Gold Wing. However on my new bike I decided to gat the Harley Wheel chock. Haven't got to use it yet for oil change so I can't give you a opinion on which I like better. I kept it in case I wanted to put on my new bike.
