I have a 96 Road King Standard with the stock mag wheels. I have a friend with a 2002 Road Glide. He just bought some Custom Chrome wheels and offered me his stock chrome wire laced wheels. My question is will the fit my King? Any info would be much appreciated. They are much nicer looking than my wheels and they are a bargain with fairly new tires.
I don't think the rear wheel will work. The front wheel should work just fine. I think HD changed the rear axel in 2003 to a larger one. I know my 04 is different then my dad's 02. If I remember right I think the belt might even be a different size to ? Not for sure though. Look in the new 2006 HD catalog it should say in there what year and type of wheels will work on what bike. Last winter I found a set of laced wheels and wide white's on Ebay that were take off's off of a 05 Road King for $450.00.
yes they will fit the only difference is the axle size, the newer bikes have 1" axles and yours are most likely 3/4" . all you have to do is change the bearings to fit the axles on your ride. you may also have to respace the wheels. the laced wheels on my glide came off an 04 roadking. for some reason the width of the hubs were slightly different than my mag wheels but i just added some shims to the stock spacers and everything was cool. sounds like a pain but its really not. so i say enjoy the new wheels
