Default Touring model question

I have a 2004 road king classic efi that I am looking to do a paint set swap on possibly. I came across a set off a 2006 flh (tank, fenders, side covers). My question is, will that set mount up on my bike? I can get a good deal on the parts and it would be a score to be able to do the switch and keep my original set of tins. Thanks in advance

I don't have the exact answer for you, but I know that a tank from a 2006 Fat Boy would not work on my 2002 Fat Boy. The tank itself is visibly the same, but the wiring harness for the sender and fuel pump are different. I figured I would just swap the top plate and the guts and use the 2002 stuff on the 2006 tank and discovered that the sender is different. The 2006 has the float on the right side of the tank mounted on a bracket inside the tank, the 2002 had everything mounted to the top plate. It probably could have been made to work, but I didn't want to do a bunch of modifying on the bike so passed on it.

Hopefully someone knows for sure on your Road King. Otherwise, check it out thoroughly before you buy.

A quick look at the parts fiche shows an 06 FLHT tank part number goes back to 03, so I'd say they're the same. Same for an FLHTCUI (carb vs efi).

I can't imagine anything else is different, so long as they have the same rear light setup.

Should work I thin. Tailightts maybe different but can easily be rewired to work.
One other consideration I the 06 a road king? There are several FLH models. Your tank console. If the 06 is an electra glide or street glide it will be different. and I have no idea if the 04 tank console would work on the 06 tank
I did a little checking and the 06 Road King has the same part number for the fuel tank.
