Hey, my 2016 FLHR is pretty much all stock except for the lighting and some slip-ons. While riding to work this morning I had a thought, what would it take to make my rear turns function as Run-Turn-Brake lights while keeping my LED Run-Brake light in place? I have swapped out the lollipop rears for an Ultra bar with bullets, smoked lenses and CD LEDS inside. I know I'd have to swap out the 1156 LEDs that are in there now for some 1157s, including sockets. Is this a required trip to the dealer to turn something on, or does the aftermarket have us covered with a solution? If not, I may just have to find bag filler lights, I guess. Current setup but now w/ smoked lenses.
If you can live with just a stop turn function (no run) go to the dealer and have them flash the BCM. Should be cheaper than the module. It worked on my 14 FLHR so I think it should work on your 16.
Also no additional module to fail in the middle of nowhere.
The more I read up on the CD Triple Play the more it sounded like exactly what I wanted so I ordered one. I can do with it the flash patterns and all that, but the added capabilities are nice. Also, if it "fails in the middle of nowhere" I remove the seat, unplug it and continue riding. Thanks all!
Our Canadian models work exactly as you describe. My friend just picked up a 17 Street Glide, his rear lights have a red ring on the turn signals for running lights, the middle lights up amber for turn signals (the red stays on), and the whole thing lights up red for brakes.
