The first Harley I ever rode was an '02 Dyna Superglide which I rented for the wife and I to ride two-up around Cape Cod Mass. It was the first time in nearly 10 years since I had done any riding at all. Up until then, the largest bike I ever rode was a GS750 Suzuki. The Dyna was a breeze, even with my wife riding shotgun. A year later we rented a Heritage Softail. Again, took to it without any trouble. Then six months later, we rented an '04 Ultra Classic. To me it was massive and a little intimidating, but once we hit the road I was amazed at how easy it was to handle. Only the low speed manuevers (parking lots) require alot of attention. But once you have paracticed the proper techniques (Ride Like A Pro) you can place that big touring bike anywhere with ease. As a matter of fact I even got a little over confident withmy Electraglide Classic and dropped it a couple times. No big deal, just got off balance when I stopped. You can never forget that you are riding one of the heaviest road bikes out there, but that is still no reason you can't master it. You will just love it for two-up touring with your better half.

Considering I am 5-8 2 hundred something with a 29" inseam and I've been riding a bagger for 30 years I think you should be able to handle it. I've lowered my roadglide front and back for added comfort.

You could be describing me! My first bike was a Yamaha V-Star as well. I ride an '-6 EG now. I'm the same height as you described. I lowered the front and rear suspension 1" and have no problems.
