Default Road King Speedometer/Tach

I've started looking for a replacement speedometer unit for my 1995 Road King FLHR that has a tach inclusive. I would, of course, prefer a plug-in style but short of major surgery, am considering anything.
Has anyone had luck with this or have a suggestion?
Thanks all.

I find that the more information that is available then the easier it might be to solve a problem.
You state that you have a 1995 Road King FLHR.
I am guessing that you are probably not the original owner.
I will also take a guess that your speedometer is electronic. Odometer is LCD and not the dial wheels.
The original factory speedometer is NOT a plug and play unit but instead is hard wired with about 12 wires if electronic.
By chance did someone replace the speedometer with a wire sub-harness that converted wires to plug and play as used in 1999.
The sub-harness "T" into connector just under side cover below the seat.
Then did the individual use something like the Drag Specialties speedometer/tachometer unit.
J&P Cycles Part Number: 560-802 Manufacturer Part Number: 2210-0103 check online to see if it looks like your unit.
If so then you have a plug and play unit and sub-harness.
Alternatively the sub-harness is an easy installation and the actual correct mating speedometer is a plug and play situation.
From about 1999 to 2003 the speedometers had same plug on back.
Keep in mind that mileage is stored in speedometer and it will not transfer.
Buy new and it starts at zero, buy used and it starts at whatever was in used speedometer.
Try to identify what you have.
Look at face and stickers under speedometer.
Look at part suggested for comparing.
Finally, what is wrong with present speedometer.
Face, glass, chrome ring or what exactly is not functioning.

Thanks for the feedback. As I said, my desire would be to simply plug in but I've had this '95 long enough to know that this particular year '94 to '96 is kinda the "red-headed stepchild" for aftermarket parts. I know I will most likely do some wiring.
As best I could tell, the previous owner, original from showroom floor by the way, changed the seat. Everything else appears stock. I'm looking to add a tachometer but I do not want a bolt-on attached to the bars of other frame mount. I'd like to keep it "clean". There is nothing functionally wrong with the original. It is showing its age. The Engineer I am needs to know the revs. to get a better feel for the bike as I ride it more (which I can do more now that the roads are clear).
I will check out your suggestion and thanks for the information.

To throw a curve ball my FP3 app has a tach. I have my phone on a mount and can set it up to show my tach and other readings. I have done this a few times and discovered or confirmed i don’t need a tach on this103 TC. I feel like it loses most of its power well below its rev limiter and will chug if you are too low on RPMs. Now this is on my stock bike and one more thing. The speedo and tach combo on the tank is not ideal if you have to look down to read the tach.

If you don’t mind me asking? Why do you want or need one?

Cheers

As I said, it's always been a preference of mine. I can get a better feel for the engine in all conditions. If there are any old salts out there who sailed as Engineers then they'll know what I mean. By sound and feel alone I could tell which motor was not right and approximate speed of the tanker. Most people would wake up from a dead sleep if there was sound, I would wake up because of lack of sound or change of sound. I'm far from a V-Twin whisperer but it's just a preference.

I did come across that part on a couple of other sites. I did note that it was a Drag Specialties part and they preferred communication through their dealers so I sent an email to the local H-D dealer.
Thanks for the heads up.

Glad to help out a fellow rider. Another idea is to get a new speedo/tach for about 20K. They give you a free bike with that.
