Default I’m baffled

Ok guys I need help. 09 street glide

Tore it down to do a complete paint job and other mods After together I fired it up and let it idle to warm up Then it was like a invisible person took over the throttle It started some errantic revving and then revved up to some high rpms I went to throttle to bring it down and nothing I had to use run switch to shut it down I read some possibilities and decided to do a throttle reset on it Ignition on and off 4 times procedure I went to fire it up and nothing Wouldn’t start this time I can hear fuel pump kick on and battery is strong Any suggestions before I tear it down to troubleshoot

thanks

Had this very same issue with a different bike, turned out to be a cracked throttle body. Took forever to find it too.

Once it started revving to the sky, that's all it would do.

One my first gut feelings was a vacuum leak. I had the air filter off but not the throttle body etc. No mech work. All cosmetic.

Yeah, the one we encountered was due to a little mishap. The TB quite literally came apart from a hairline crack that was missed during rebuild and inspection. Within 15 seconds of starting the bike for the first time, the TB cracked in half and all hell broke loose.

I’m guessing you changed the bars? Maybe the connection for the throttle wire is bad or disconnected.

The bars I had already installed awhile back. But, I did replace inner fairing with a different one to accommodate a double din stereo. I might have jarred something loose. My question on this would be.....If it was disconnected throttle wire or bad connection why would it start or better yet why would it not start? Thanks for the help.
