So, I ordered a chopped tour pack off of Amazon, because they are inexpensive, and black, which makes it easy to match . The one I ordered is the TCT-MT chopped tour pack (with the bottom plate and the quick disconnect mount). There were zero reviews of them online. There is a similar model made by another company, which I assume is likely made from the same place (China, as this seems to be the thing they do). Has anyone used one of these knockoffs from Amazon? Is it rugged? I know I will have to drill the holes which I am fine with, thats not an issue. I am just wondering if anyone has one of them, and if they stand up OK to weather and general use? Thanks in advance!!!
i am not sure on that exact brand, but i have had experience with the cheaper chinese knock offs on ebay. we put a king tourpack on my buddies '07 street glide. we had to make a base plate (out of an old stop sign) and drill it. we did order better latches of a chap on ebay. i have used his latches a number of times and they are of good quality. i have a mid-chopped tourpack from my '07 that we did the same thing on. we also put a '14+ mid chopped tourpack on another buddies '19 road glide. we had to make a base plate for that one also, but 1/4 mdf works well if you can't find metal. the only other thing we did was use factory weather stripping i find it better than the stuff these companies send you. also the locks were crappy and you could only remove the key if the latch was locked
i am happy with them and really have nothing bad to say. all of these were under $200. the mounting hardware was also off ebay for minimal money. i had mine painted and the painter had no concerns with the body panels. i have no reason to think these will not last. but at the price, it could could be replaced a few times and still significantly cheaper than stock
The kit I ordered actually comes with the bottom plate. So, that saves me a little hassle. It also comes with the luggage rack on top. I have seen other reviews of that, and it is cheap chromed metal. Which, honestly, is fine-for the money I am spending I am not expecting high quality everywhere. I just want to make sure its going to, one, hold up for a good couple seasons and, two, not leak when it rains.

Hey there, I did purchase a TCMT razor tour pak and was impressed with the quality. I also bought as it was cheap... no issues yet, just had to re-drill holes, not a big deal. Have had it for 4 months and no issues so far. I am garage kept and usually out of the elements.
and to add... I also purchased from the same company, a CVO rear fender, stretched bags, and outer fairing. Same as above, good quality.

I bought a cheap Chinese tub online a few years ago. I bought Harley hardware to go with it, mounting bracket, latches and luggage rack. The tub is fine, but the Chinese hardware is not nearly as good as the Harley chrome, it will rust out on you.

I am sort of expecting that. I may, at a later date, but the Harley top luggage rack, but, if I get a year out of this, I will be happy with that.
i had purchased a cheap luggage rack at one point. the weld splatter was quite prominent and the legs weren't exactly straight, but it served it's purpose. when mu buddy was selling his 96 e-glide, i changed racks with him. no comparison to the harley, but still was not worth the money to me to buy oem
I have this one from XFMT, which I believe is the same. Mine has held up well. I've got about 5000 miles and a year of riding on it. I adapted it to fit a 2008, so I had to build a custom mount, but even with that, it's held plenty of weight and is in good condition.
I dont' know why the link won't work... Here it is again.
