Performance issues
Good morning brothers and sisters,
I’m having a problem with my 1997 Ultra Classic. When I first brought her out a month ago, I had a lot of back firing and the throttle felt like it wasn’t opening up all the way. The bike felt bogged down in every gear, but more so in 5th. After investigating I found I had a huge crack in the right head pipe. I replaced the stock head pipes with Cobra True Duals. I got the pop back in acceleration in every gear but 5th. Now it’ll accelerate at a “normal” rate but when I reach 70MPH, it feels like there’s a speed governor on the bike and just wont accelerate any faster, unless I’m goin down hill. I cleaned the carburetor and replaced the throttle cables for the 12” bars I put on last year. There’s no play in the throttle so I don’t believe they’re too loose. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I used to have something like this happen on my 94 shadow. Gas would gum up I the float bowl and clog ****. When you cleaned it did u clean the jet holes? Any debris in there will hinder gas flow
