Was thinking of ordering a Peace Officer Special Edition Ultra. Has anyone heard of the bikes being key'd or damaged because it says Peace Officer Special Edition on the tank. I know that the bikes are offered at a special rate, however is the savings worth it if the paint is damaged or the bike itself is monkey'd with.
here in my city i have a friend that have 2005 Ultra peace officer edition....and my country is Indonesia...
u guys must be confused, how a unknown people can buy and have a special edition bike from US.....
i believe in US, not everyone can buy this bike....
my friends bike is two tone blue ultra....and when itry his bike, its feel different with my regular ultra....i dunno why, but its lower....and has a better handling....
oh..and about the paint, no...my frined bike paint is good....no damage...the different is there is a Peace officer badge in the dashboard....and the tank emblem is sticker....
I've never heard of them being targeted cuz they say Police on em. Doesn't mean I would be surprised tho, of somebody felt the need to jack with one, simply because it said "Police" on it.
I'm assuming your a Law Enforcement Officer, because you need a commision card and badge to order one. I had an 03 Classic and never had any problems. I bought a 06 Ultra and chose not to get the Peace Edition only because I had such a screaming deal on the Ultra in vivid black. There are many Peace Officer Edition bikes that have been resold to non cops. I have never heard of one being screwed with. But anything can happen, even the Firefighter Edition could get keyed by some guy who hates FF because his wife left him for one.
I still worry about it from time to time but this is my second POSE and I haven't had a problem yet. Sturgis should be a good test. I've added a couple of trinkets to make it even more obvious that it's a POSE, not sure if that's a good idea or not! I suspect that most folks don't look closely enough at the tank badge to even notice.
Do you really get a special price if you're a LEO and buy one?
Back on topic, I've never heard or seen it, but like someone says, there's always someone who might target it just because. There are those kind of chickensh1t people around.
