Default 99 FLHR Tachometer Install

I am trying to find information on installing a FLHP tachometer on my 99 Road King. Does anybody have any information on installing these? From my understanding, there are 3 wires: ground, light in tach, and tachometer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere.

Thanks in advance.

I just installed a tach on my 2002 Road King. On my bike all 3 wires were in the headlight. I think the tach pickup wire is pink, I do know that it had a connector on the end of it but it wasn't connected to anything. There was an unused power and ground wire there also. Don't know if your 99 is the same.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out behind the headlight.

So i just checked out behind my headlight and unfortunately the wires are not there. However, there is a pink wire installed under the dash on my tank to the speedometer and in looking at the wiring diagram, this wire is "Not Used". Any information on if this is the tach pickup?

Why don't you use the diagram and follow the pink wire to the other side. All of the wires I have seen have two ends.

I think it probably is. When I was doing the research on mine it seemed that most of the Road Kings tach pickup wire was under the dash. There was just a few years that it was in the headlight like mine is on the 2002.
