I just ordered the JW Speaker adaptive 2 for a pretty good price. $501 with free shipping from Cheap Cycle Parts. But they did charge me tax. I found the SG adaptor on eBay for $22. JW makes the Custom Dynamic adaptive headlight but its a couple hundred dollars more but you get a better warranty.
I have a daymaker on my softail, great light but expensive. I have a sunpie on my street glide, great light and cheap. My .2 cents, buy what ever you can afford, they are all pretty good lights and you cant hardly go wrong with any of them.

If you can and don't mind spending for an adaptive headlight, do it!
I run a truck lite and it's a good light with a great high beam but man would I love to have that extra light in the corners.
I run truck lights on my Jeep, they are bright. Put one of them on my bike for a test run, I agree with you about the need of extra light to fill the void.
