With all the talk about tires here is my question. My dealer said that the avons on a dresser will make the rear end feel loose????? They said the side walls are not stiffenough to support the weight of a dresser.I have always ran avons on my other harleys(no dressers) and would like to run them on my 05 ultra, but i do not know who is right. Anyone running avons on a dresser?????????
Right here! Avon Venom X's on my 01Ultra. Same load rating as a Dunlop, and rear of bike is not loose. The service guys at the stealer are trained to tell you aftermarket products are garbage. Like I stated in another tire thread, I've rode exclusively on Dunlops on my last three bikes. Switched to Avons 3,000 miles ago. No more grooved pavement boogie, and I have a tendency to scrape floorboards alot more in the turns now. The bike hooks up better than it ever has. I'm telling you it was like buying a new bike. I'll never go back to the Dunlops. It's been a dry summer, but both times I've been caught in the rain, The bike felt very stable, even in a couple of inches of water during a heavy downpour.
I put an Avon Venom on my 05 standard about three weeks ago. I noticed a looseness at the rear of the bike during a weekend trip. I got home checked air pressure and was at 36#. Pumped the air pressure from 36 to 40 and is night and day different.
