Folks,
Well, my 06 SG no longer misses, but occasionally it will cut out completely for a split second. Does anyone remember any recalls on the ignition switch relay? Just fishing.. Bike in the shop, and everyone scratching their head... It is a fuelie with SE intake, Rineys, and a Thundermax. It needs to come home so I can ride it, and the mechanic can work on something fun!
I have and 06 SG also. It would cut out like you say when it was stock during warmup. On cooler days is would cut out once as the engine warmed when starting from dead stop. After I added Rinharts, a K&N, and a injection trim computer to richen it a bit, the cutout is much less and sometimes doesn't happen at all.
Racer,
You say a trim... are you referring to a TFI type setup? Just wondering... This issue feels to be electrical, but not sure... almost like someone hits the kill switch...
Thanks for the feedback, hope you are enjoying the ride.
Correct, I added a TFI box. To be honest, I'm not sure if the improvement came from richening things up or just that the weather got better! Guess I will find out this fall.
My gut feeling as an engine guy is that there is an abrupt change in the timing curve as the EFI goes through its warm-up cycle. It feels like the timing just jumps to another setting instead of ramping. However, I never put a light on it or investigated any further...
Happened to my 06 Road King too a few times. I finally traced it down to a loose connection at my spark plug. Replaced the plugs and used a little copper to make sure I have a good connection, been 3000 miles and it runs perfect.
Also, as suggested check the grounds at the battery too.
