Does anyone have the new FastAire Aero windshield?
I'm curious how the curved lip at the top works, and if the 8" actually works like a 10".
I'm due for a new windshield, and I'm currently using a 9" dark smoke FastAire.....been on there for almost 2 years. It's starting to show it's age, bug damage, cleaning damage, and the S100 cycle cleaner just faded it a bit.
What are some good windshields to go to.............I'm sticking with the 9" or 10" dark smoke, but would like to find one that doesn't scratch so easily and one that is a bit thicker.
I put the 8" Fastaire Aero windshield on my 07 SG the second day I had the bike. I think it works great in reducing the head buffeting. I'm getting my solo seat modified by Allan at Mean City Cycles so I'm planning to cut about an inch and a half off the bottom when I get the seat back and do some measurements. For the price, I think it's a bargain.
Steve:
I have friends that have bought Clearview Shields for their Ultras........and like them. They have a slight recurve, are thicker than stock, can polish with Novus and clean with ammonia based cleaners. Just like the Roadglide unit on mine.
Order early, it takes them a goodly while to deliver........but worth the wait. I think the link is www.clearviewshields.com. Bailey, CO.
I put one on my Ultra three months ago and am happy with it. I'm 6'2' and the stock shield top was right at my line of sight. I've never had a 10" shield so I can't compare but the wind flow just hits the top of helmet. No problems at all.
I like my 10" dark smoke fastaire. The price is good and I recieved it in 4 days. Clearview was 8 weeks out last time that I looked at their website. That's ridiculous.....Maybe they should have more product on hand or hiremore people. I agree it is a great looking product and if I could have had it faster than 2 months, I would have ordered one. Hmmm....maybe the owner is listening.

Just looked at the Fast Air website and they are saying the Aero version of their windshield won't be available until around Labor Day so you can't get one of those FAST either !!!
I have an 8" Clearview with recurve. I'll have to put in on and ride with it again for a while. I used to think there was a real noticeable difference, and that it was very 10" like init's protection, then over time it seemed that it really was simply doing the job of an 8' windshield. VERY high quality and very good looking, but I got tired of the recurve look. It kind of went against the forward launched look I like. Almost all summer I've been riding with a 7" standard shaped dark smoked Cee Bailey, another VERY high quality windshield. I'm waiting on my third Bailey SSC to arrive Saturday, an 11" one for the 8" experience that hopefully is the best yet.
I have a Fastaire 8", just received my Clearview 8" with recurve and today was the test ride. The Fastaire let's the wind hit me (5' 10") in a horizontal line right across the eyes and with the Clearview recurve I don't feel it on my face at all. So the recurve or aero concept seems to really work. And I like the idea of being able to use Rain-X etc on the Clearview, so I may also order one in stock 12" height for winter riding.
I was using a FastAire 8" on my Ultra. Worked great. Then tried a 7" from Sin State Cycle and itworked fine also. A few days ago I put on a 6.5" Clearview with recurve and it provides about the same protection as the other two. I like getting the lower look without giving up any performance.
