Sometimes you just gotta laugh!!
I was headed home last night on my scooter after spending 6 hours helping my brother build a new deck on his house. It was around 11:30pm when I was headed home & as I came into the town where I live I heard my fire pager going off. I pulled over & just caught the 2nd page saying we had a fully engulfed barn fire & it was threatening the residence. I pulled up to the station by the time the 3rd & final page came through & dispatch said people were entering the barn trying to rescue their livestock. Now we got problems! Within seconds I’m geared up & 1st enroute to the fire. We ended up calling in mutual aid with 5 other departments & battled this fire until 7:00 this morning.
2 hours into hauling water I got a page from the station saying my bike siren is going off & it won’t stop. I realize my fob is in my front pocket & I can’t stop hauling water because at that time we still didn’t have the fire knocked down. The only thing I could do was have someone come replace me, but we were extremely short-handed all night. Finally around 3:30am I was replaced so I could go back to the station. I pulled up to the station & saw our 3 new rookies sitting outside on the picnic table. Once the fob got within distance it shut off. One of the new guys was sitting at the station as backup when the call came through & it started to rain a little so he thought he would be a nice guy & push my bike into the station so it wouldn’t get wet! Once the alarm went off & wouldn’t stop is when they called me. They still pushed it into the station & shut all the garage doors but it was so loud that they couldn’t be inside the station or the meeting room or break room. So they sat outside the whole time. After talking a little more I found out that what triggered the alarm was the fact that he first sat on the bike then flipped the switch as if he was going to start it. He was pretty nervous & embarrassed that he did that & kept apologizing. I had a little chat with him about touching another guy’s bike & told him I appreciate the fact that he didn’t want my bike to get wet but I told him that rain won’t make it melt & next time KEEP YOUR PAWS OFF MY SCOOT! I really couldn’t blow up at him since I knew his intentions & he was only trying to be a nice guy. I think I evened the score when we all got back. I made him clean & wash the truck for me so I could go home & finally got to bed – which I’m going to go do right now!
I just have a couple questions to pose:
I thought after a while the alarm would shut off? Is that true or not? Mine had been going off for almost 2 hours.
Also, is it possible to wire in a switch so I could completely shut off the alarm? There are times I wish I could not have it on or activated. I never wanted the siren installed in the first place. I told my dealer I wanted the factory security with the bike & I also purchased the pager to notify me. They told me the configuration was possible but when I took delivery I found out they had installed the siren as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very protective of my bike and I chewed somebody's *** out for sitting on it but that was because I barely knew the person and he obviously didn't know me at all. That would be like me just jumping in the driver's seat of his car (let's say it was a Vette) without asking permission. I wouldn't do it. But if it was a convertable and it was about to pour, I'd make an attempt to protect it.
My bike sits out in the rain all the time at work along with all the other bikes but if something really bad was happening (bad storm wise) I wouldn't want someone to be so intimidated that they would just watch my bike get f*cked up.
A btw, don't be surprised if he pissed on the door handles of your truck after he washed it. I would have.
I can't believe you gave the guy a hard time for trying to protect YOUR bike. If I was him, and the same thing was about to happen again, except instead of just rain, a torrential downpourwith some really really strong winds that were blowing around all kinds of debri all around, I would love to be able to tell you that "Hey, I was gonna pull your bike in to protect it from the storm but you were such a ***** about the last time, I just left it out and watched the wind blow it over."

1. With the fob present turn the ignition to IGNITION.
2. Rock the kill switch to OFF
3. Turn the ignition from OFF to ACCESS
4. Simultaneously press both turn signal switches. Turn signals flash once.
5. Turn ignition to OFF. Turn signals flash three times, & the system is in "Transport Mode".
