Default 1998 Road King - 53803-06 - Rear Docking Point Not Lining Up With Sissy Bar

1998 Road King Classic 95th Anniversary Edition

I am running into an issue where I've tried fitting multiple sissy bars (1 Aftermarket and 1 Genuine HD) onto my HD 53803-06 docking hardware and none seem to fit. Not sure If I installed these wrong, but every picture I see, it looks like I installed correctly. May be a defective bracket, I'm gonna order one tomorrow and compare when it comes in.

Could somebody give me their measurements on their rear brackets? Also the measurement between rear docking point and front rubber grommet near shock?

Posting some pictures to give some further clarification. As you can see, it looks like the bracket needs to go forward about a 1/2" but the rear docking point is in the front hole already. I'm really hoping this is user error LOL

Thanks all.

Center to center of bike docking points is six inches, on mine.

Thank you. Looks like I have a defective bracket then. Center to Center of bike docking points is 6 3/8" on mine.

I’m honestly confused here. Bracket is not defective and is confirmed to be installed correctly. Do I need to re-drill and tap front bolt 3/8” towards the rear? Not sure how I could move rear bracket forward 3/8”.

Has anyone else ever come across this problem?

Have you tried engaging the rear pins before having the front pins fully engaged ?

Default docking

that appears to be aftermarket sissy bar/rack. I had the same one and had to squeeze the sides in a little to get fit.
