Looking at my powervision I see head temps upto 400 and engine temps up to 380. Normally only see it get this hot on a long stretch of freeway on a hot day. My bike is about to hit 30k miles..so it must not be to hot. 19 sg 107
My 2018 FLHTK engine temperature hits 275 on a regular basis in 100+ degree outside temperatures and the heads hit 300-310 at 100+ outside temperatures. Those temps are from the Power Vision PV-2 mounted on the handlebars...
Never had a cylinder head temp gauge on any of my bikes and haven't ever seen a max spec for a Harley. Of course a H-D max operating temp would govern but 400-deg does not sound unreasonable to me based on piston powered aircraft I've flown. A 310HP air cooled aircraft engine normal operating range can go up to 480-deg and run like that all day and into the night and not be a problem. Aircraft specs are generally very conservative. So if you can't find a definitive max operating temp from H-D, this could give you a point of reference.
SG/RG is oil cooled head not coolant . They will run a bit hotter than the full touring bikes with Coolant and lowers . With sidecar head temp 260-280 are normal. Real hot day in traffic 300 can be seen but never an issue. My older non wet heads would hit 360.

Lycoming TIO-540-AJ1A. I flew Turbo Stationairs when I was doing SAR work. The N/A versions are popular with the bush pilots in Alaska as they'll carry about anything you can load through the clam shell cargo doors. Also flew that model with a STOL kit which I hated on windy days and it's always windy up here in Northern AZ and it didn't have oxygen so limited our missions up here in the high country. But was outstanding for longer range missions down near the Mexican border looking for Cartel smugglers south of I8.
