Old thread smitty, but I will reply anyways.

When I setup PowerVision it made me so damn paranoid about my engine temps. Finally, I learned to just live with it lol. I usually see 300 ET and 350 HT on my PowerVision gauges. This is with ambient temps of 75 or so.

I installed oil cooler fan which seems to help.

Running with fork fangs considerably raised the temps, especially during hot days.

But I am always wondering how people get 240-260 ET readouts in 70-80 degrees weather. I have never seen temps low like that on my bike. Is it tunning? I have 11k on my 114 M8 SGS

I believe they are reading coolant temps, rather than head temps.

I am using my infrared heat gun and had to buy a second one just to make sure these temps are right. To me, they are high, but I guess its normal? I have a street glide special,
so its oil cooled heads. I see over 300 degrees while scanning at the head around the top of the fins and up to 340 so far. As I move the gun lower, down the cylinders, I see
260, to 240. I scan the oil lines and the oil tank area, and its about the same, 240 area. I have done this when the weather was in the 80's and today when it is now in low 100's.
I do not hear any difference in how the motor sounds and it runs great. I have never had a bike run this hot. My buddy has a 2015 CVO twin cam stage 3 twin cooled and the same
spots in his motor are 40 degrees cooler on average. My motor is all stock except for slip on mufflers.

We’ve ridden for hours in both slow speeds and high speeds between 105 & 114 degrees. The M8 can take more heat than the rider. Just ride and don’t worry about heat.

Sounds good to me, I am pretty sure that if the heat was a problem, the bike would start to show symptoms and so far, its been awesome. I did change the oil right after
the first time I felt it got hot, but that was the break in oil I dumped a little early. All is good.
By the way, love the blue and colors of your bike.

Same here. I believe my friend and I have both thoroughly torture tested our 128s in the desert at high speeds with ambients in the 110s, only to end up in the southern Idaho road construction, stop and go at 113* That was the trip through hell.

I started this thread 4 years ago..and stopped worrying about it. I bought the 2019 107 new and just traded it in with 70k miles on it. Normal temps on PV were always about 330 et and 350 HT....BUT MANY TIMES ..I rode in 90 plus degrees for hours at high speed..seeing it hit over 400 for long stretches...ie i90 across dakota. ..never an issue . Even with lowers and fork fangs
