Close calls keepus on your toes. Glad to hear that you kept it under control.
Too true, I am always at my best right after a close call, vigilant as all hell. Old blue hair almost took me out on Monday on my way home from work. She tried zipping across the 2 lane highway I was on when thetruck next to her turned north as I was going south, she never looked and assumed if the truck turned it must be clear. Locked up the brakes and just slowed down enough to miss her. Talk about the deer in the headlight look, she never saw me coming until my tires was screeching in the skid.
nice job keepin it up. I had a good 'come to Jesus' one as well the other month on a banked curve and hit gravel/sand ..... definately keeps you on your toes. Nice you were able to not lay it down!
Today Hard. I ran upon some fuel spill while traveling over a freeway overpass. My bike lost traction, rear and front tire ziz-zaging, I got up on the tank and ease her off the fuel spill....[&:]
SCARED THE CHIT OUT OF ME!!!!!!
I'm still shaking........didn't hit the pavement....... but I had to go to the local clothes store for a new pair of undies.....[8D]
The bike has fell over twice in the garage and once when I took her offroading...doesn't react to well in the sand.
I'd say it's beer thirty, but I'm still at work and have to travel home.
still shakkkkeeeennnnnn
Hit something similar in 1998 at Sturgis. That year it rained the entire three days we were there, but we rode 300 miles per day anyway. In one place, coming back from Devil's Tower, IIRC, we hit a place where my RK started wagging around like you describe, and the guy behind me had the same experience in the right tire track of that two-lane road. Those in the left track had no problem, and although neither of us dropped the bikes it was touch-and-go for a few seconds. One Dresser wasn't so lucky and ended up in the ditch, no one injured. Never figured out what caused it, but I assume oil of some sort, and that coupled with wet pavement wasn't a good formula for traction..
OFF roading? Just natural around here.
Place called Horsecreek. Paved road dead ends at ranch house.
Drive around the yard and pickup a gravel road for 15 miles and then hit pavement again for about 6 and you're at Chugwater and I-25
Ps: wait until they start spraying the anti icing stuff around here on some roads and overpasses. That will put a pucker ring on your seat!!
