I did not experience this bike running hotter with fangs. It must not be universal. My heat issue, if I can remember the sequence, actually got better with fangs at speeds above 35.
I had added Harley's small frame heat diverters before adding the fangs. Had they not worked, I would have ordered some of the leather ones sold here.
But I congratulate you on being able to run at Hwy speeds in comfort. It does matter how you take care of it, but once you do, touring is a dream come true. Hurrah for solving your problem.
I have an 01 Road King with a LRS shield. No problems. But what I experience without the shield is what most experience on bikes that do not have a shield/fairing. I also have a fairing for this bike. Now I'm confused...
Freedom shield with recurve and fangs solved the buffeting issue on my 14 Road King. I'd take 10 minutes to remove the fangs on hot days, and still was able to ride in comfort due to the shield doing such an excellent job.
I'm 5'10", ride a 2017 bone stock Road King, wear a Bell Pit Boss half lid with the little vison and I have yet have any issue with buffeting at any speeds, I can ride with a pair of glasses in an open shirt pocket and they don't blow out. Those big azz noggin buckets catch the wind just the way they are.
Put the stock windshield on my old shovel and it'd beat you silly over 55.
If the buffeting is coming from the tank area up behind the windshield DK has a set of "wings" for lack of a better word that mount in front and below the tank. Have not used them but they sound like your answer without taking cooling air from the engine.
I bought a set of these. Not cheap but well made. Did nothing. Actually made it worse above about 65-70 mph.
Im sure Ive seen a set of clear fangs, made by someone, but darned if I have ever found them again.
someone here installed this vent on their Road King windshield, with very positive results. read the reviews and youll find their feedback and pictures.
