Default Help with - Fly by wire- throttle sensor replacement

Help with - Fly by wire- throttle sensor replacement,
- I purchased a 2011 road glide with a set of ape hangers,,,, I replaced the bars with standard reach bars,,, when I did I obviously had to rewired the throttle sensor in ( it was JUST the white plastic sensor that fit in a notch in the end of the bar )
- now the sensor is very worn and feels " notchy, " so most all are telling me it's a common issue and replace it ,,
- question -
All the replacement sensors have a long metal tube attached to the white plastic sender at the end,,,, mine only had the white plastic sensor ,, not the metal tube ,,,, help I'm confused ))) what is the correct part #,
What does this ( replacement ) part look like ?
Will I have to buy one with the big fly by wire sensor attached to this metal tube and remove it ????
Thank you

The tube is part of the assembly.

Did YOU replace the bars yourself or have a shop do it? Throttle by wire can only be done with the complete assembly, the metal tube contains the actual electronics that makes the signal transferred to the throttle motor. The white gear is just a mechanical connection between the twist grip and the electronics in the tube. If you pulled on the gear and it came off, you will still need to get the old tube out and replace the entire assembly.

So, I looked up the part (32305-08B) here. You can see that the part is on revision "B", which means it's on its 3rd iteration. Apparently, the original twist grip did not have the metal tube, but the newest one does. You shouldn't have to remove the metal tube. It should fit in the bars.

Interesting. Both the 32305-08 and 32310-08 have always come with the metal tube. My 08 bought new came with the 32305-08 with the metal tube. Be interested to know from both posters saying no tube whether they bought bikes new and/or if anyone other than themselves did any work on the bike concerning bars or TBW work.

That’s why I said “apparently”. If they all came with the metal tube and assuming it fit in the bars, why would anyone remove it?

I don't know about your specific PN but a month ago i had issues with my wife's 09 trike. The original has a pigtail and a plug inside the bars where it connects to a wire to carry it on through. The "new and certainly improved" has a long cable on it. No internal plug.

i had to ask for the new version.
