Default 2018 ultra classic

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if heat is a problem with the M8 107 engine on a ultra classic.
Or would it be best to get the limited with the twin cooled engine. Just curious if its that big of a difference. thanks!

I ride a 2019 M8 114 Road Glide Ultra with the Twin Cooled motor. It runs very hot on the right side, so not much difference between the 2 options you ask about.

My stock 2019 Ultra Classic M8 107 gets warm bordering hot when it’s 90* due to the catalytic converter on the right side. Open the lower fairing for air flow helps.

I really don’t find the 107 M8 Ultra any hotter than the 2013 Road Glide Ultra Twin cam I had.

When I looked at M8 bikes they had both Ultra Classic and Limited with twin cool. I chose the Ultra Classic as I didn’t want a water pump-radiator system plus I like being able to remove the lower fairings.

I have a 2018 ultra classic and have had no problems with it. Gets hot but not unbearable.

I got a low mileage ‘18 Ultra Limited about a year ago.

Been real happy with the bike so far. I added a Stage 1 upgrade with 2-1-2 head pipe from Fuel Moto, Ness stealth big sucker and Power Vision tuner (all from FM)

Pleased with the results and eliminating the Cat cut back on heat considerably.

Good luck with your decision

Twin cooled m8’s stay noticeably cooler, if you ride in hot weather or do lots of traffic crawl riding, it’s worth it.

All bikes get hot, especially sitting still in traffic. Both of my bikes have the Captain Itch Crotch Cooler and it helps a lot but not sitting still while sitting over the top of an oven.
