Default Performance upgrade

Ok here’s my question; I have a 2012 Road King with a stage 1 SE air box FP3 tuner stock head pipes with rush big Louie mufflers. I’m trying to decide on upgrading to either true duals or.. Andrews 57h cam upgrade. What do you all think I should go with? Thank you in advance for your valued response

That really depends on what you are after. If you're looking for more power the cam upgrade. Even with stock headpipes you will see much more improvement from the cams that stock cams and headpipe swap. If you are wanting different sound and dont care too much about the power then true duals would be more important. FYI if power is what you are after true duals will net you the least power vs 2-1-2 or a true 2-1

Go with the cams. If you haven't decatted those pipes yet, they will make those Big Louies louder if you do.

I have the same slip-ons but with the stock motor on my 13 King. Looking to do cams soon also.

I hate to say it, but best to do both. Do the cams first, then 2into 1 if looking for power. it has to breathe I would do it at same time since the pipes are already off when doing the cams. At least de cat the header while they are off.

Skip the true duals, and go with the cam... if getting more power is your goal... If in the future, you decide to go with a different exhaust, go 2 into 1..

I would also suggest going to the Andrews 48 cam... it's a proven performer in a 103" engine... low & midrange torque... where most people ride..

I've had the SE255 in a 2012 Limited with a 103" engine.. I went with them at the time to maintain the warranty. I was taking a brand new bike on a cross country trip right after break-in. The bike had torque down low, but ran hot, and ran out of steam at higher RPM.

I believe the A48 with a good tune, is a better choice if warranty isn't a consideration.......

Good luck with your decision...

The word "power" covers a lot of territory. For some it translates to pushing a bike well over 100mph. Others want super quick acceleration. And still those who just want to climb steep mountain roads two-up with lots of luggage. So you have to decide where (RPM range) you want most power. It would be great if one cam could do it all. But nature doesn't work that way. You'll have to select a cam with a happy medium in mind. There are people on this forum who have the expertise to give you good guidance in selecting the right cam. Your research will pay off. Once selected, pretty much everything else will fall into place.

I like to have some get-up-and-go. I don't really do much in the higher revs, so looking at Andrews 48H and S&S MR103. The SE 255 is okay, but I would go with the 48H over the 255.
