I consider the engine guards and the saddlebag guards as drop guards.... If I were to drop a bike, and scratch one noticeably, I'd just replace the guard.....
It's not a common occurrence with me... I dropped a bike once, many, many years ago... and alcohol was involved... long story...
Those days are long gone.... and luckily I survived them unscathed.....
Now, if I was going to take a course with slow speed drills where drops are expected... I'd just zip tie some kind of rubber hose over the guards that are in place...
FWIW, in my experience, what I have dropped my bike and scuffed up the engine guards, the scuffing marks are so far underneath the engine guards, you do not see them.
I took a peek at the price and those are pricey! As mentioned, The OEM guards are way less $$, so just use those and replace when you're more confident riding slow.
The wording in the advertisement won't win any friends either, seems to be directed at the LADIES. Are they the only ones likely to drop their bikes? That doesn't agree with my experience. At one time or another I have dropped every bike I have ever had. Stuff happens.. Guess I am the 5th kind of rider, one who admits it.
