As far as I know it should be the same as an FLHR. The whole light comes apart. It is not a sealed beam headlight. Check the service manual for instructions.
My headlight works but there is a white cloud film inside the housing. It looks like it is sealed anyway to clean . Thanks
My Road King had the white film. Looked like when the bulb blew one time, some smoke or something stuck to the back of the lens.
I took the headlight out and removed the bulb. Then I sprayed some glass cleaner inside the housing and put a microfiber cloth inside the housing. Then using a wooden dowel, I moved the microfiber around to clean the back of the lens. If there was any residue left over- repeat. Mine cleaned up pretty well, but not perfect. I replaced the bulb with an LED replacement so I shouldn't have a smokey film issue again. I've seen a LOT of H-Ds with this issue.
The wooden dowel prevents scratching the back of the lens and you can use needle nose pliers to retrieve the microfiber. Hope it helps!
If you really want to get it clean , pick up a couple of stronger magnets from HF , wrap them both with a small peace of shammy using an elastic band , throw one inside the head light with some vinegar and go to work on it , rinse and let dry . I did mine when I bought the bike and ended up doing both vehicles , it worked so well .
Another option is using rubbing alcohol, microfiber and using the erasers end of a long pencil to move the microfiber around. If you miss any of the alcohol it will evaporate leaving no trace.
