Default Lubricants

Does anyone know what lubricants should be used on the following items? I couldn't find a specific listing in my service manual (2006 FLHTCUI); thanks.
- Jiffy stand
- Saddlebag and trunk latches
- Fuel door
- Brake lever
- Clutch lever

Pretty much any good brand name lube will work on all those parts. I have some bike cable lube I bought couple hundred years ago that has a small needle type spout. I use that on all the above.

As mentioned, any lube will work...

Lately I've been trying various dry silicone lubes for those parts mentioned.. they dry after application so there's no dripping or weeping when it gets warm like most grease products, and they don't attract dirt/dust like most petroleum products...

Bottom line is to keep them lubricated to minimize wear and improve function...

The service manual calls for grease on the clutch & brake lever bushings. Although, this would require removing the snap-ring and bushing itself to grease it. I usually just end up spraying some lubricant on top of the pivot point and letting it seep in while I squeeze the lever in and out a few times. I pretty much use Amsoil metal protector on all my metal-to-metal contact points (floorboards, passenger pegs, fuel door, kickstand, saddlebag latches and locks, etc.) I also spray this stuff onto all exposed bolt heads as a corrosion inhibitor. It's extremely clingy and doesn't run much at all.

I also use the Harley Lube. I’ve had good luck with it. The needle applicator is nice and a little goes a long way.

One issue with wet lubricants is they attract and hold particulates. Dry lubes such as graphite powder will lubricate but not hold particulates.

And we must remember, WD-40 is not a lubricant. Great at freeing rusty parts but nothing past that.
