A CPAP is an air compressor that sits on your night stand that has a hose attached to it with a face mask that goes over your nose. It forces air into your nose while you are sleeping to keep you from suffocaring while you are sleeping. That is a general description. The best thing to do is look it up on the net. There are alot of people that need them that don't have them. They are one of the remedies for sleep apnea. T.
I tried to air off my Ultra with mine but it didn't work. Just kiding. Should be ok, which one do you have?I use the Oracle II and it is the quietest according to my wife, used the ful face and it was ok but cannot do the nasal. What are some of the stats out there that use a CPAP? During my sleep study they said I stopped breathing 100 times in an hour and the longest was 46 seconds. O2 sat was at 43 %. Now that I have a CPAP I don't fall asleep at the stop lights anymore.
Wow... Until someone posted the wiki link... I swear I thought you guys where typing CRAP. I need to pay more attention. I was wondering what the hell a CRAP machine was too. I thought, perhaps a portable sh!tter? I was in shock at the idea that alot of you guys where admitting to carrying a sh!tter around.
Sorry!
I'm not trying to be funny. Right now I'm laughing at myself for not reading it clearly. That was funny!
Don't use a cpap myself however this is what I do for a living. Hence the name sleepman, I sit around and review sleep studies all day long, basically I do all the hard work for the doctors. They read my reports and make their diagnosis from the data I create. As for the durability of the cpap machine they can take a lot of abuse, it's reallya simple machine for what it does, if you all knew what the price mark up was on them you'd scream.
I agree with sleepman. I work for a hospital corp. fixing medical gear. The home CPAP machines are very rugged by design. Now if they could only make things Nurse Proof! Good thing the wife can't see this!.
