2002 ultra classic 88 upgrade ?
and I will need to find out if STOCK E.F.I. will work or upgrade to 58mm ? /also will be looking for 2 into 1 exhaust. my wallet is getting THINNER every minute !!!
If you have the $$$ and can do as you wish, go for it
Money makes a real lousy coffin liner.
Now that being said you are going to put an engine in that costs about what the bike is worth.
Now figuring it is going to cost you 8 grand to do this little project.... if you took 8 grand and put it towards a newer used bike like a 2013 Limited that someone has already done cams , pipes and tuner too, would you be happy?
Plus you would have TWO bikes!
The 2002 bike is in the opinion of many, the last good year... good bearings, good crank, etc,
I have an 03 TC88 FLHTP, with newer OEM head pipes so I could put O2 sensors in, a Thundermax ECU that is fully tunable and self learns from a base map., mild cams (S&S 509G's) and upgraded suspension.
It is nowhere as fast as my 13 103 that has been "warmed over" to the point it is in the 100/100 club, but it is no slouch, it is still fun to ride, and nobody has left me in the dust yet... I am keeping up with the guys I ride with that are on 114's.
The limit to your ability to cam your 2002 is the heads, prior to 2004 iirc there is an issue with coil bind on large lift cams.... the 509's in mine are fine, I am told much more lift and I would have needed better heads.
My point is there are low dollar hop ups you can do to your 02 to give it some ooomph without breaking the bank
But if you want to go big dollar... the S&S replacement engines are a good bang for the buck, they fixed a lot of what Harley got wrong, and any independent is going to be able to get parts to work on it.
Stage 2 head port which gets bigger valves & springs
07up cam plate upgrade W/S&S oil pump and use Andrews conversion cams. Lots of options here.
95 big bore, Personally I like the 4inch stroke which can be done to 98ci too. I think you can go to 107 with out boring cases. You could stroke it with a S&S crank.
Power vision tuner with couple map's from fuel moto but will still get a dyno tune.
I do the assembly myself

But, I'd like to add, that I just went through this with my '06 Road King and I am now VERY happy with the end result. First was the cam chain tensioners. Needed replaced, so I went with the SE cam plate and Andrews 21 cams. I also installed a Thunder Max ECU (thankfully a previous owner installed V&H true duals with O2 bungs). I then had my indy install an Andrews 34 tooth pulley on the trans. When I first bought the bike, I had been shopping for bigger engines, big-bores, and jugs to punch out in preparation. Now, I'm quite happy with the way my TC88 runs. I don't see an upgrade being necessary anytime soon.
Your vision may be totally different from mine. Perhaps your looking for the challenge or upgrade in-and-of itself. I won't fault you for that either. But, just wanted to echo what someone had said earlier, these TC88s aren't slouches, all things considered.
