I make them a slip fit, when you put the 90 degree adapter on it makes it snug so it doesn't move around. I can't say you can't scratch it, but if you a little careful you'll be fine. And I debur the living heck outta of it before I ship them I had thought about using liquid electric tape, a thin coat would make it scratch proof I thinkA can is about $4.95 at wally world, and is handy for using as (GASP) electric tape, just joking I couldn't help myself [sm=lol.gif]
