That's absolutely ridiculous, then they wonder why no one uses the dealer...****ers

Couple hour job and not that hard. Do it yourself. This was the first set I have done and wasn't an issue.
My sig pic was the day I brought her home. I need to get an updated one downloaded.

I agree with this. Handlebar installs are the most overthought installs difficultly wise. I just did my first set of bars myself recently

Gotta agree. Easy peasy compared to my previous batwing. Especially if you go with one of KST's "Vanguard Collection" (Spearhead, Pathfinder, Pioneer) bars. The wiring/lines drop out the bottom of the left & right uprights making it ridiculously easy. No need to remove or de-pin any connectors, etc. And being 1.5" makes it even easier. I did a set of the 12" Pioneers on my RGL. As mentioned earlier, you just need to snip a few wire ties and move stuff around a bit. I believe KST says you can go up to 14" without changing wires/lines. There's very helpful videos showing complete installs. Now the 2021 clutch cable may change things...kind of doubt it but check with them if you this route.

Added bonus for me of the Vanguard Collection is it's a 3 piece bar so the uprights can be rotated for your desired wrist angle.

KST 12" Spearheads. Easy to install without depinning connectors. No extensions needed

You guys are missing the point on some of your posts. He has a 21. Clutch cable now. I know 20 and earlier a 14" anything worked. On my 11 when I put taller bars I added a +4 cable. It worked stock. But wasn't happy with the tension on it. Its actually a lot easier to swap the cable than the hydraulic line. Nothing to bleed.

OP I'd just pick the bars you want and put them on and see what happens. If you don't like how it fits. Order a longer one.

Probably could do it myself. Have done all my own work in the past. Being in my sixties this will be my last bike. Made a promise to myself I wasn't gonna touch it with a wrench. Stage 1 & 2 and bars at the dealer. Sharp paint on your bike. Thanks

OP; Why are you selecting bar height as a # vs. measuring? IMO...do it right & measure for comfort. Then, if taller & needing longer cables, you'll do it right. Otherwise you're throwing $$$ & time f/ nothing.

I've had 12" bars for the last 15 years, stock touring bars before that. 12s worked good for me but thinking about going to 14s. I guess the reason I started the thread and asked the question was sticker shock. I'm trying to use the existing parts to save some money. I've always owned Evo's or Twin Cams and did all my own work. I don't know **** about the new bikes and figured Id leave it to someone who does. Thanks for your reply.

Not sure your location but shop around. A RG bar swap should be no more than 4 hours. I did mine, first time I had changed bars, in 2.5hrs. I completed understand getting older and not wanting to mess with it but don’t over pay.
Depending on brand, bars should be $300 - $500, wire extension kit $40, clamp $80 and 4 hours labor so call that $500. Worst case $1,200. A dealer I know used to charge the same to swap bars on a batwing as a RG. The average person doesn’t realize the difference in the install.
At the price they quoted you I would hate to think what they are charging for for the stage 1 and 2 install.
Good luck and enjoy your new bike...
