I have a concealed weapon permit for Georgia so technically anywhere I have my firearm on the bike I'm okay, as long as not in plain site.
For those that live in Georgia you may knowthat you can legally carry a loaded pistol in your car without a permit (glovebox, briefcase, trunk, etc. (not center console)); as it is considered an extension of your home. I found out today from a(Atlanta metro county)district attorney and police officer that the same does not apply to a motorcycle. If you have a pistol on the bike in a saddlebag for example, you better have a concealed weapons permit. Any Georgia LEOs out there that can confirm?
This is for Georgia so your state may be different.

I have a CCW permit for Texas, and I'm packin' heat everywhere the law allows. But, isn't it just pitiful that, in this day and age, we even have to take such measures to ensure safe passage of ourselves and our loves ones? A real sad commentary on what our society has become.
Absolutely no intent to hijack the thread, BTW. Just a comment.
In NM, from what I was told, carring a firearm on your person, or in the saddlebag is legal. Once off the bike, you need a permit...unles asked to dismount from your bike by a police officer. As long as they ask you to dismount your bike, you can still have it on your person, so I am told. I carry. Not all the time. At 6'1",350 lbs,I have never needed a weapon, or even been concerned for my, or my families life. I just like guns. LOL. I find that when I am going to be taking a short trip around the state, I carry it. If I am going around town, it stays at home. I just got back from a little trip to CO, with the family (in the car). I always carry a gun on longer trips with them. It isn't legal, but as the saying goes, "I don't want to get killed, for lack of shooting back."
Serverpimp, I'd take a closer look at the state law rather than taking the DA or cop's word. These things are interpreted nine different ways of Sunday. Here in CA I can carry in the saddlebag, unloaded but loaded mag in same spot, and you know our laws are kooky. BTW, make sure no minor has access to your glove box when you carry there, they have to be in the back seat or the glove box be locked!!
