Default What is this wobble???

Hey all.
Been riding for a while but new to Harleys. Just bought a 2015 road glide FLTRX. Only had it out a couple time due to snow and cold still here but I heard about this Harley wobble thing. I've done a bit of looking into it but want to hear from you all.
What is it?
Do I need to be concerned?
Any more info...

Thanks everyone

Most of that high speed wobble stuff was on the pre 2009 frames. I wouldn't worry about it. ride it and enjoy.

Don't worry about something that likely won't happen. Besides, when Harley started using a semilunar waneshaft on the upper end of the cardinal grammeter, sinusoidal repleneration was effectively controlled minimizing the potential for any wobble.

Like others have said, ride it and enjoy.

You probably won't experience this. But I did have a slight "wobble" when entering a highway on a curve. It was not terrible bad, but enough to cause me concern. I installed a TruTrack unit under the frame and that took it away. There seems to have been some issue with the bushings in the rear swing arm causing a bit of movement. If you do experience any wobble like this, I strongly recommend a thorough inspection of the rear suspension and look into the TruTrac.

@Oldsoul79 One other point to make is your tires. Check the pressure often, and monitor wear, and keep a look for flat spots and cupping. I had a bit of a wobble, and new tires cleaned it up. On my '17 the rear tire had 'flattened' a bit. New tire - gone. On my 09, I'd had great luck with Metzlers previously, but it was a bias construction. I stupidly made the mistake of trying radials. "Why not? Better technology..?" Once I got to Sturgis after 5000 kilometers, the rear was tread-free [worn]. I talked to the Metzler rep, and he told me how our heavy Harley-Davidson motorcycles need bias-ply tires. I rode to Rapid City HD and got new tires front and rear - Dunlop. They gouged me too. Say what you will about Dunlop, but they're at every dealership in North America [or should be], whereas a Metzler, Avon, Michelin may not be as "ride-in" available...

So for me - Dunlop. Pretty good tire all around, and much more available if you need one on a road trip. This coupled with checking tire pressures every day, whether through a proven TPMS or belly down with your tire gauge.

Anyhow, sorry for being long-winded, just what my wobbles have been related to. Welcome to the Forums.

H

A friend of mine has a 16 ultra, just had it in the shop for a wobble, Two tires later and front wheel bearing and neck bearings he is good to go. He is also very happy that he got the extended warranty.

If you are riding at even moderately sane speeds on curves, you'll most likely never experience that wobble. I'll crank my FLHT through curves fairly fast, and it will tend to wallow a little bit. It IS, after all, over 800 lbs all by itself, and was not designed as a sport bike. But I've never had it upset the handling of the bike. BTW, it now has 132,000 miles on it, with stock suspension.
