Default 05 electra glide complete front end removal

Looking for words of wisdom in removing the complete front end off of an 05’ electra glide standard. I need to strip the bike to the bare frame bc it’s been ridden in 15 NY winters. The frame need to be sand blasted and powder coated due to rust. I will be blacking out the motor and tranny while I’m at it.

it is not hard take pictures so you will remember where things go. I put bolts in bags and labeled where they came from, I even labeled my wiring, but didn't really need to. service manual is a big help, so is you tube. Having a clean safe place to store parts is a plus.

Got the manual. Just hoping i can pull outer fairing, wheel fender, bars, brakes, and top triple tree. Then pull most of the unit off as a whole.

I took my ‘04 apart a couple years ago for paint. The one hiccup I had was that I got the connectors for the right and left handlebar controls mixed up. It didn’t hurt anything but I was scared when I tried to start it and nothing happened. LABEL EVERYTHING! Put every nut and bolt in bags. Since you are going that deep you might want to change out your neck bearings depending on miles and what they look like.

Good luck!

It is just time and patience, nothing to it. As stated, FSM and stay organized. The manual is going to likely have you jumping all over the book removing each different assembly, but at the end of the day it is just nuts and bolts. But a lot of them, organization will save you a bunch of time on the other end. No worries, a day job no more. Good luck.
