I'd like to do something a bit different with the tank badges on my 2021 Gauntlet Grey Road Glide. I'd like to take the existing badges and paint the outside area where they're chrome, red. The tone of red I'd like to use would be as close to the red of the tail light lenses when not lit. Ultimately, my plan is to add some red accents throughout the bike to personalize it some but without getting gaudy. I think outlining the tank badges and the "Limited" badges on the front fender in red instead of chrome would be kinda cool. Any ideas out there to do this relatively easily but with good quality? Not sure if a powder coater would do something like that or not... Too intricate maybe...? Thoughts would be awesome!
If it was me, I'd fake everybody out and put a 21 Sportster 48 tank decal on.
Not sure if powder coating can be done on plastic, at least some of the tank badges are just that. Maybe a silk screen place? They can usually apply a liquid mask on the inside.
If it were me I would order another set of badges to play with, until you get it the way you want it. Then remove and replace. Sounds like a good Idea. Keep us posted!
They make paint pens. That may be the easiest way to do it. I did the lettering on my passenger footboards black to match the transmission cover and everything else.
