Default 2012 Streetglide will not turn over

Working on a friends bike today installing a new amp. Pulled on the hot wire from the battery and it had a rubbed spot in it and touched the frame. Sparked a little and blew the inline fuse going to the battery. Now here is the kicker. Someone had installed a 250V 30 amp fuse. I replaced it with a 12V 30 amp fuse. Radio and amp works fine. All tail lights and blinkers work but I am not getting a cycle on the speedo no will the odometer come on. The fuel guage is also dead. No back lights on the speedo or tach but the rest of the gauges have back lights. Checked all of the uses with multi meter and they all test out. Any other ideas?

FWIW.....

Short version, general rule of thumb....

The 250V /30amp fuse will protect that circuit the same as a 12V /30 amp fuse... It's the amperage draw that will blow the fuse... Both will blow if the current draw exceeds 30 amps..

The voltage listed is usually the max voltage of the circuit that the fuse will protect.... you can replace a fuse of the same amperage, with a higher voltage, just not with a lower voltage, and it will protect the circuit the same...

As for the rest of your issue, not sure what happened, but I'd guess you are missing a blown fuse, probably an inline fuse... Electrical issues are hard for me when I'm trying to figure them out in person. Over the internet.... I'm not good at electrical trouble shooting.. I'd need to sit down with a schematic, and follow it through the various systems...

Hopefully someone will chime in with a possibility for you to check out...

check the rest of the fuses. One of them goes to the gauge cluster.
