Don't get unrealistic expectations. I presume various reputable manufacturers and forum members try to give honest evaluations regarding the quietness of their helmets. When I was in the market for a modular and full face, I placed heavy emphasis on the "Shoei is the quietness" advice. So, over time, I got a GT Air and Neotec II. Love the helmets, but don't expect miracles as to quietness [buffeting did seem to improve]. Of course, my opinion is merely seat-of-the-pants [not scientific]. The best way to get the quietest helmet is still to wear earplugs. Good luck in your search.

I recently purchased a Bell DBX Qualifier with the MIPS system and transitions face shield. I find it to be very quiet and it's extremely comfortable. I looked at a lot of different helmets and for $279.00 this one was a steal. I'm really enjoying the auto-tinting face shield. No more sun glasses with the helmet on or flip down sun shade. The shield gets nice and dark and reacts quickly to ever changing light conditions without ever noticing it.

That's part of your problem. I have the 8.5" Klock Werks and it made a big difference. I also have the lower tree deflector. I also ride with a LS2 Rebellion 1/2 helmet. I rarely get any buffeting with either helmet, but do when riding into a stiff headwind at 80-90 mph. Good luck with your search, as others have said there is no perfect answer.

Try a taller windshield first.
Made a huge difference for me going from stock SG windshield to the 7" Windsplitter.
I think you can still demo them at your dealership to see which one works best for you.

I have a Bell SRT Modular helmet and it is the quietest helmet I have ever owned. That being said, I still wear earplugs because of having my head in an enclosed space with the exhaust and wind noise, it is never going to be quiet enough. I do ride short distances without ear plugs and it's not too bad.

If it's louder than the Dyna it probably is the windshield. Try changing windshields if you like your current helmet.

Shoei helmets are quiet, but I still wear earplugs.

Revzilla is a great online site to read and watch video reviews. I'll chime in with opinions of my own on some of the helmets mentioned here. The Shoei RJ Air Platinum R is a great 3/4 helmet. Does everything well, except keep rain and hail and rain out of your face. Likewise the Arai Classic-V, my newest 3/4 after retiring the Shoei from years of good service. I wear an Arai RX-Q full-face from about 10 years back when I'm not using any form of headphones. Quiet, and the vents are easy to use and work well. The new equivalent would probably be the Regent-X or Defiant-X. Mine has been very gently and not so often used, so I'm OK with it; even though it is getting elderly...it shows little wear or shrinking/hardening of any liner material. Most of that time, it was back-up for my Shoei RF-1100...that was a great helmet, replaced by the RF-1200 and now, the RF-1400 in their line-up.

My Cardo Packtalk Bold system is installed on my Shoei RF-1200. It has been a bit of a disappointment, noise-wise. It is almost always worn while riding my Beemer, though, so what to tell you about it on a Hog?

I recall when I transitioned back to a full-face lid years ago, it was with a Scorpion Exo something-or-other...HUGE bang for the buck and I used it on and off for quite a while. Cost me $140.

You'll find that helmets are designed for head shapes, and riding attitudes, as in, just how tilted is your head? If you end up with a helmet that is incompatible with your riding style/bike, you are liable to be disappointed with noise and venting, so choose wisely.

The chin curtain on a Shoei or any helmet makes a huge difference. If your helmet doesn't have a chin curtain, try that. A FF helmet reduces buffeting

When you get to Shoei quality, they come with a removable washable lining and 3 thicknesses of cheek pads. (I just chose the thickest and shave them.) With the winter strip on the bottom, super quiet. And a full face is lighter than a top shell removable lining 3/4 HJC AC3 even without the full face shield.

A 3/4 is a waste. My size small real carbon fiber (is actually a Daytona) is cut to XL. So it's what I consider a bennie and not a true helmet. But even when correct offers little protection for chin and such. My Shoei is XL.
