Good that you realize the mistake. That tire was bald, and had no tread. You are a lucky man.

I used to bust tires at Sears in high school when shovelheads were still that new fangled Harley engine.

We referred to tires like that as racing slicks, with the air showing through.

Glad you survived intact.

There are 2 things on a bike you want to check regularly, tires and brakes.

Seeing my bike on a tow truck would be enough for me to keep things right.

Hey, **** happens, every person in the world has a “coulda, shoulda, woulda” story.

The new tires will feel sweet after rocking those worn ones for a while.

You spent money putting LED turn signals on but run a piece of crap tire like that 80mph? Wow. Let me guess the LED’s were for safety LOL!

You are very lucky. Takes a big man to admit his mistakes. I would suggest you take some time and educate yourself on tire wear indicators and how to find them in the tread pattern. There are several around the circumference of the tire be sure to check them all and inspect them regularly. There are triangles on the side wall that will point you to where those indicators are located.

Hopefully this whole experience has taught you that trying to squeak a few extra miles out a set of tires really isn’t worth the risk.
