Default Blew up rear tire at 80 MPH

Close to 300 miles since yesterday. On my way to test battery blew up rear tire half way to a dealer that is 150 miles away. First tow in 45k miles. Both my tires had 25k miles on them and I was going to change them next week anyways. Lesson learned - never neglect maintenance. Should have put new tires last season.

Funny thing tho, after new tires I felt like bike is 1/2 to 3/4 inch taller. What do you guys think if I put 1" lowered front cartridges but I have 13" shocks in the back. If it helps shocks in the back have light springs and sunk in that is close to 12" anyways.

You are one lucky man. If you don't go to church you might want to start. God must have been looking out for you my friend. Ride safe.

Got your money out of that tire. See if you can get 26,000 out of the new ones.

Did you knit, weave or crochet that tire?

First off. You should never ever run a tire until it looks like that, What is your life worth? The second part of your post should be addressed in a totally different thread. You are trying to pack too much into one post.

That tire looks like it was a blowout waiting to happen... Why did you wait so long?

I didn’t realize tire was that bad. And I was not bragging. I was just sharing what I did wrong. I knew it was getting close and I had new ones ordered for next week anyways. I made a mistake and I realized it. Luckily for me and others it didn’t turn into disaster.

I live in boonies. Closest Harley store is close to 150 miles away. We have a Indy shop near by but he wanted 300 for install. I didn’t have any rides planned so I had new tires ordered for next week. Didn’t realize it was that bad.
