Looking for some advice for my 08 Ultra Classic. Not a whole lot of info out there yet.
I've added Hi-flow air kit and a set of V&H slip on's. I actually now have quite a bit of heat gain at stand still and loss of power in 4-6th gears. I know that the mixture is totally screwed up andEFI Mappingis the next step. V&H claims thattheirFuel Pak isbasically plug & play..self tuning. My local dealer is asking "how many zero's can you add on to that check?" As always, they want to sell me a lot stuff I don't need. I need real feed back from real people! Thanks in advance!
Well, with the intake and slip-ons you are definitely running lean and you don't want to do this for long! I have the FuelPak and am very pleased with it. With the V&H slip-ons you will find it to be quite satisfactory and will really help with the air/fuel balance and you'll gain a measurable performance increase. It is "plug and play" in that V&H provides a "map", that is settings, that you will program into the unit after installing it on your bike. It's about a 20 minute job from beginning to end, and quite easy; the instructions from V&H are easy to follow and thorough. V&H does not release the technical details of the FuelPak, so it is not customizable with a dyno tune as is the SERT, but it's a lot cheaper. V&H has already provided a wide variety of maps for various exhaust systems, but be aware that if you change to another exhaust down the road, you will need to be sure that they provide a map for that particular exhaust. V&H technical support has done a good job of working with me to fine-tune the FuelPak for my particular application.
Fuel pak if you dont plan on doing major engine mods. I have oneand like it for its simplicity compared to other fuel management systems. Bike runs great with it.
Agreed with the ease of installation and the comment about it being all you *need* if you don't plan on doing more mods to the engine. The "programming" is nothing more than using 3 buttons to put in the settings they provide for your configuration...takes minutes.
The result is a strong, smooth running engine with good mileage.
On top of that, the V&H customer support is *unmatched*...I have worked with them and they have been professional, supportive and respectful, immediately returning phone calls and providing whatever is needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
I cannot say enough...and I am only a satisfied paying customer.
After holding my bike up since last week..my dealer finally came back and said that the SERT they have for the 07 is not he same . They spoke with HD and they are not available until late Sept. I guess V&H is the way to go. I don't want to take a chance of burning it up
Fuelpak is not yet available for the 08 models. I have heard everything from several months to they are not doing one at all. I can tell you now if they do it will be a little while for them at least to get a new mounting system designed and manufactured for the 08. The ECM is now under the seat instead of the side cover.
SERT - you marry it to the bike
V&H Fuel Pak - User Friendly - Easy Install & Works - But limites the up-grades it can handle outside a stage 1 \ stage 2 - & can be removed just as easy in case there is a warranty in question...
Been using one on my '07 since new... Works Great!!!
