Default 2011 Road King oil cooler

Good afternoon all. I was wondering, one of my Church Brothers has a 2011 Ultra Classic 103 C.I. I have a 2011 Road King Classic 103 C.I. His engine has a factory oil cooler that is plumbed into the block via the 2 NPT fittings on the front of the oil filter housing, My engine has the same two holes, yet they are plugged with fittings. My question is........ Can I just plumb into those two fittings and install an oil cooler?? I don't have the funds to spend 4-600.00 on an after-market and my thoughts are, ANY oil cooler is better than none...
Thanks in advance

The 2011 Road King Classic came standard with the 103 and oil cooler. What happened to yours? It also came with the ABS and factory alarm as standard.

I don't know. I purchased the bike used and it didn't have the oil cooler installed. It doesn't have the ABS module installed into the right-hand "pocket" under the right side frame cover, I don't believe that I have the alarm also..Not that I'd use it..The ABS would be nice to have. Is there any way besides looking for the module that I could determine if I DO have ABS braking?

Looking at the parts diagram on Ronnies, it looks like yours is plumbed differently, if you look at the diagram you'll see one hose has a fitting , and the other has a nipple the hose slips over.

Do you have the adapter that goes between the un-cooled oil filter mount and the filter when you use a cooler?

If you search your VIN on any of the many decoders, what did your bike start as? It is not a factory Road King Classic.

I don't have item 29 or the related hardware on my bike, All I have are the item #2 installed. Logic(?) would say that since those two items are plugged into the oil filter housing, they must have oil flowing, therefore, I wonder if I could just plumb into them.

I'll do that, I purchased it from out of state from my younger Brother. He purchased it as a Road King Classic, it's titled as a Classic, I wonder if someone just removed the filter housing at one time, Although, that would seem kinda dumb.

Just checked the VIN, turns out it's a Road King, not Classic and it's a 96 C.I. engine not a 103...So, I'll assume that the oil cooler did not come standard..

For your oil cooler question, I don't think it matters if the bike is a Road King Classic. However, it is a tight area where the oil cooler mounts so when you say "any oil cooler," you will have to incorporate the hoses. On a stock installation, those are formed hoses.

For future investigations, you really need to confirm what you have. Here is a clip discussing the 2011 Road King Classic standard equipment:

"NEW PowerPak setup with large, 1690 cc, Twin Cam 103™ engine, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Harley-DavidsonŽ Smart Security System with hands-free fob"

This is why you need to look into the VIN. If you have a base Road King, you may have a 96 engine.

I agree the Road King Classic came standard with the Powerpak Option from the factory, as well as the Ultras in 2011. The SG and RG was an option. The standard Road King had the option for cruise and ABS/Security as separate items, but no 103 motor. The 103 motor was standard on the touring bikes in 2012.
