Conspiracies aside, as to corporate greed. Here in the sunny state of cali they are raising gas prices and blaming it on the poorly managed east coast pipeline. Total BS, we probably import <.001% of our crude from the east coast if any. Just greed!
Store workers should put a limit on the number of gallons each vehicle can receive, and the pump cuts off when it reaches that amount. That will help eliminate the "shortages". Not to mention the people that are behind those two selfish people. That's an fight just waiting to happen, when someone behind them is about out of gas and sitting in line, and getting madder and madder each minute. That's when guns start appearing. And that can't be good for business at that place. Use some common sense, store owner, and limit purchases fro a while. Don't encourage selfishness like those two in he picture.
Government imposed purchase restrictions?
I believe the word for that is Socialism.......be very careful where and what you are asking the government to restrict in the name of an emergency. Weve already seen common sense go out the window with nanny state COVID restrictions.
I don't by any means have proof that network executives pockets are being lined but we all know how big corporations can and will line the pockets of politicians. Is there a trickle down effect? Most likely that's a hard YES. Just another glaring reason there should be term limits for politicians.
So label me a dog. I'm okay with that.
I'll leave it alone after this as well. However, I would like to clarify that the "dog" label was not directed at you. The point was that if I see a dog acting like a dog, then that's normal behavior for a dog. But if I see a dog acting like a horse, that's when I would start wondering about the dog being subjected to outside influence.
Likewise...the nature of a corporation is to make a profit. So a media corporation sensationalizing a story to increase profits is acting true to its nature. No outside influence (from government or elsewhere) is needed to explain that behavior. In fact, I'd be concerned about outside influence if they acted otherwise.

In most places, they actually get away with what they call "zone pricing" that allows them to ignore price fixing laws. That's been a sore spot in my area for decades. Maybe your area of CA is in the same "zone" as parts of Florida.
Not to worry--those hackers were just saving us from climate change, and we'll have green energy soon and no need of pipelines. On that note, I sure am glad they shut down construction on the Keystone XL pipeline in the mean time, that way the Canadians will instead send their oil west to ship to China and we can simultaneously avoid any economic benefits in the US while the Chinese manufacture all our cheap plastic junk and take the blame for climate change. Absolutely brilliant.
As a Canadian, I can say we are double screwed by our resident green economy joke Trudeau. Michigan wants Line 5 shut down as it is 20yrs passed its expected life span, and years ago there was an attempt to build a pipeline through the western provinces to Ontario and Eastern Canada. Which Trudeau stopped, now when Line 5 goes so does half our gas in Ontario, on top of the reduced supply.
